History

A Humble Beginning

St. Ann’s ICSE School, Ponnur is a Catholic Missionary School which is administered by St. Ann’s Educational Society, Vijayawada.
We remain grateful to the Almighty for the small seed, planted in the year 1980 in the hard soil of Ponnur, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh and has become a big tree giving shade to thousands of students. With great admiration, we look back to the hardships, obstacles and sacrifices which the pioneers had to face. The trinitarian family- Sr. Xavier, Sr. Francina and Sr. Jessy Ann marched forward with a firm conviction that it is God who called them to the land of Ponnur.
The school had a humble beginning with ten students in a rented house. The School aims at the holistic development of the young students and mould them into ideal citizens who would serve the society in their various capacities.
The school has celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the year 2005 with more than a thousand students.
The school has made every effort to bring out the Best in every student at all levels. We are glad to note that our students who are working in different parts of the world with a sense of pride are carrying forward the legacy left by the pioneering Sisters and Teachers. We bow before the founding Sisters of this institution with reverence and acknowledge their hard work and pledge to carry forward the beacon of light that they lit in the heart of the young, years ago.
The Almighty has blessed us abundantly over the years and today it is a well-established School accommodating about 1900 students and 70 staff members. We raise our hearts and minds to the Almighty counting His blessings one by one in thanks giving.
